On the other hand, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi accused the BJP of engaging in violence against opposition candidates leading up to the Panchayat elections.

Gogoi remarked, “The state administration shows favoritism towards the BJP, failing to act against the ruling party's goons. Both State Congress president Bhupen Borah and MP Pradyut Bordoloi have brought this matter to the police’s attention, but no action has been taken against the BJP's thugs.”

He insisted that Congress members would not be cowed and are ready to challenge the BJP in the elections. “We have a rich history of contesting against the ruling party, and our workers are determined to stand firm against the intimidation and fear tactics employed by the BJP,” Gogoi added.

The Panchayat elections in Assam are scheduled to take place in two phases on May 2 and 7.
