New Delhi, March 17 (NationPress) The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) achieved a remarkable victory in the elections for five Rajya Sabha seats from Bihar, with all its candidates winning. Following the results, various ministers and MPs from Delhi expressed their satisfaction, deeming the outcome a reflection of the NDA's increasing influence.

In comments to the media, Delhi Minister Ashish Sood stated, “This showcases the growing acceptance and expanding strength of the Bharatiya Janata Party under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.” He emphasized that these results reaffirm the public's ongoing trust in the NDA's governance and developmental initiatives.

Delhi Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh shared similar views, asserting that the outcome was anticipated. “It was destined to be a clean sweep. The entire nation is ‘Sanatani’. Following this, it will be Bengal’s turn,” he noted.

BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj extended her congratulations to the people of Bihar, stating, “This reflects the deep trust in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s development policies.” She also criticized the Congress party, claiming that its approach to politics is causing unrest within its own ranks. According to her, such political tactics are detrimental to national interests and have led to the party's diminishing status.

Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa congratulated the party leadership and the victorious candidates. “I extend my congratulations to the national president and all elected MPs. This victory is a testament to strong leadership and organizational unity,” he remarked.

BJP spokesperson Yasir Jilani emphasized the alliance's solidarity, stating, “Winning all five seats in Bihar illustrates the NDA’s cohesion and the strategic insight of its leadership.”

The NDA fielded five candidates: Bihar Chief Minister and Janata Dal (United) national president Nitish Kumar, BJP leader Nitin Nabin, Union Minister Ram Nath Thakur, Rashtriya Lok Morcha chief Upendra Kushwaha, and BJP candidate Shivesh Ram. All five candidates emerged victorious.

This electoral outcome was a significant blow to the Opposition Mahagathbandhan, which failed to secure any seats. During the voting process in the Bihar Legislative Assembly, 202 MLAs from the NDA cast their votes, while only 37 from the Mahagathbandhan participated.

Interestingly, four Opposition MLAs—Congress legislators Manoj Biswas, Surendra Kushwaha, and Manohar Prasad Singh, along with Rashtriya Janata Dal MLA Faisal Rahman—were absent during the voting.

Bihar Congress President Rajesh Ram claimed that the missing MLAs had been “abducted” by the BJP, arguing that despite the BJP's hold on power, these MLAs had remained in contact until March 13 and are now allegedly under house arrest. The BJP has not responded to these accusations.

The vote counting commenced at 5:00 P.M. Based on first-preference votes, Nitish Kumar, Nitin Nabin, Ram Nath Thakur, and Upendra Kushwaha secured their victories, while Shivesh Ram won his seat in the second-preference round.

Meanwhile, Mahagathbandhan's candidate, A.D. Singh, managed to receive 38 votes. However, in the second-preference round, Shivesh Ram garnered additional backing, ensuring a complete sweep for the NDA.

The Bihar Legislative Assembly, comprising 243 seats, conducted this election to fill five Rajya Sabha vacancies. Although six candidates contested, the NDA's significant numerical advantage—approximately 202 MLAs compared to the Mahagathbandhan’s 35—was crucial in determining the results.
