New Delhi, July 28 (NationPress) In a bid to enhance the spirit of patriotism and civic pride, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has unveiled a month-long celebration for Independence Day 2025, focusing on the central theme “Swachhta se Swatantrata tak”, running from August 1 to August 31.

The initiative is geared towards instilling a sense of national duty, environmental awareness, and citizen participation across all sectors, as shared by an official.

The campaign is structured to foster cleanliness, community involvement, and national pride through a variety of activities spanning departments, schools, neighborhoods, public areas, and online platforms.

Core aims of the NDMC's Swachhta Campaign include commemorating India’s independence with actions representing civic duty, cultivating a strong sense of ownership among citizens for a cleaner and greener New Delhi, and encouraging behavioral changes via participatory and innovative initiatives.

Major elements of the 'Swachhta se Swatantrata tak' Campaign encompass cleanliness drives, awareness initiatives, cultural and community events, beautification projects, and the acknowledgment of Swachhta warriors as heroes.

Activities include extensive cleaning operations in schools, markets, residential areas, offices, and religious sites.

Awareness efforts will feature Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) through rallies, posters, social media, and street performances.

Cultural and community events such as exhibitions, essay competitions, plogging initiatives, “Clean My City” marches, and community pledges will also be part of the campaign.

Outreach activities will include plantation drives under the theme “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”, graffiti competitions, and wall art installations.

The Swachhta Campaign will recognize and honor the Swachhta Heroes by celebrating sanitation workers, high-performing schools, green champions, and notable initiatives.

A thorough calendar of events and activities has been meticulously crafted to celebrate Independence Day under the theme “Swachhta se Swatantrata Tak”.

Each department has been allocated specific tasks to ensure their active involvement in fostering the spirit of cleanliness and freedom, as noted by the official.

These activities will be executed under the careful oversight of Heads of Departments and appointed Zonal Officers, reinforcing the Swachhta Movement across New Delhi throughout the Independence Day Month.

The Health Department of NDMC will conduct cleanliness drives in high-traffic areas such as religious sites and JJ clusters by collaborating with RWAs and NGOs for plogging activities, which will emphasize the promotion of SUP alternatives and “Swachhta Pledge” selfie stations as focal points.

Additionally, the Health Department will organize a program to honor outstanding sanitation workers.
