New Delhi, March 10 (NationPress) NDMC Vice Chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal announced the 'Summer Action Plan 2025' on Monday, which incorporates initiatives such as new water distribution systems, increased water tankers, enhanced pipeline infrastructure, and water quality monitoring to address summer challenges.

Chahal highlighted that the NDMC receives around 125 MLD of water from the Delhi Jal Board and 2.08 MLD from tube wells, identifying areas vulnerable to water shortages, including Gol Market, Rashtrapati Bhavan, Parliament House, North Block, South Block, RML Hospital, Mandir Marg, and Connaught Place.

He assured that a 24x7 reserved water supply is guaranteed for Rashtrapati Bhavan and Parliament House, and in emergencies, the NDMC will mobilize water tankers for prompt delivery.

Chahal mentioned that the NDMC has fortified its water distribution framework in preparation for summer, establishing coordinated efforts with the Delhi government and Delhi Jal Board (DJB) to ensure a seamless water supply.

There are currently 18,366 water consumers in the NDMC region, including 3,509 commercial connections, 11,846 domestic connections, and 3,011 others.

Water is sourced from four significant treatment facilities: Chandrawal Water Plant (Yamuna River), Wazirabad Water Plant (Yamuna River), Haiderpur Water Plant (Munak Canal, Delhi Cantt Reservoir), and Sonia Vihar Water Plant (Ganga Water from Uttar Pradesh).

As part of the 'Summer Action Plan 2025', the civic body intends to augment the number of water tankers, deciding to acquire 8 new tankers and 12 CNG water tankers (six with 17 KLD capacity and six with 9 KLD capacity).

The NDMC's current fleet consists of 10 large water tankers (9,000 liters capacity), 23 water trolleys (5,000 liters capacity), and 2 tractor-tankers.

To boost efficiency, the NDMC has accelerated the repair and maintenance of its 24 underground reservoirs (UGRs) and boosting stations to raise storage capacity.

Key reservoirs include Kalibari Control Room, Jor Bagh, and Vinay Marg.
