Nearly 16 lakh candidates have downloaded their admit cards for the NEET (UG)-2026 re-examination, the National Testing Agency (NTA) announced on 18 June, days before the retest scheduled for 21 June. The admit cards were made available on the official website from 14 June for all eligible candidates appearing in the retest.

Admit Card Download Process

The NTA noted that a section of candidates had been unable to complete their account details — including bank information required for examination fee refunds — and had sought direct access to their admit cards. In response, the agency has opened a two-step option for all candidates: they may either download the admit card immediately and submit bank details for the fee refund at a later stage, or complete the bank detail verification first before proceeding to download.

Candidates facing difficulties are advised to contact the NTA helpline at 011-40759000 or 011-69227700, or write to neetug2026@nta.ac.in. The agency has also urged students to regularly monitor the official NTA and NEET websites for real-time updates.

IAF Airlifts Question Papers to 18 Locations

In a significant security measure, the Indian Air Force (IAF) has transported question papers for the NEET-UG 2026 retest to 18 locations across the country. Officials said the deployment of Air Force aircraft is aimed at ensuring safe and timely delivery of examination materials to designated distribution hubs, eliminating ground-level interception risks.

This comes amid heightened scrutiny of the NTA's examination processes following irregularities identified during the earlier NEET (UG) 2026 sitting. The use of IAF logistics marks a notable escalation in the security architecture surrounding the retest.

Multi-Layered Security Framework in Place

The NTA, in coordination with multiple government agencies, has put in place a multi-layered security framework for the re-examination. Security personnel, local administration officials, and law enforcement agencies have been deployed to oversee the transportation, storage, and distribution of all examination materials.

Sensitive examination centres will be placed under enhanced surveillance, with strict monitoring mechanisms introduced to prevent any tampering with question papers or disruption of the examination process. Authorities have not disclosed the specific number of centres classified as sensitive.

The NEET-UG 2026 retest on 21 June is being conducted for candidates affected by issues identified during the original examination. NEET-UG remains one of India's largest competitive entrance tests and is the sole gateway to undergraduate medical admissions across the country.
