Hubballi (Karnataka), Feb 3 (NationPress) In a significant turn of events concerning the shocking murder case of MCA student Neha Hiremath, her father, Niranjan Hiremath, has expressed that his daughter has been unjustly treated and has accused a prominent MLA of being involved in the tragedy.
During a press conference in Hubballi on Monday, Niranjan Hiremath pressed for the transfer of the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
“My daughter’s soul deserves peace,” he stressed.
The tragic event unfolded on the night of April 18, 2024, when the perpetrator, Fayaz Kondikoppa, assaulted Neha with a knife, fatally stabbing her on the college grounds in Hubballi.
Niranjan Hiremath, who serves as a Congress corporator in the Hubballi-Dharwad City Corporation, indicated that the state government had assured him the establishment of a fast-track court, promising justice within a window of 120 days.
“Yet, no advancements have been made in the case, and the fast-track court remains non-existent. Given this situation, the case ought to be referred to the CBI,” he declared.
With tears in his eyes, he continued, “It has been nine months since my daughter’s murder, and we have yet to see justice. I am uncertain about the direction of the investigation. The public and Hindu activists are questioning the inquiry. It is evident that an MLA is implicated in this case. The CBI must take over the investigation.”
This situation is poised to incite significant controversy across the state.
Sri Ram Sena is also advocating for a CBI investigation and has succeeded in ensuring the permanent expulsion of the accused, Fayaz, from his educational institution.
The founder of Sri Ram Sena, Pramod Muthalik, has claimed to possess evidence regarding the involvement of influential figures and MLAs in this matter.
Previously, the Karnataka Police dismissed the ‘love jihad’ theory concerning this case. Their charge sheet, submitted to the Hubballi court, indicated that a rejection of marriage was the motive behind her murder. No reference to love jihad was made in the charge sheet.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has presented a comprehensive 483-page charge sheet against the accused Fayaz Kondikoppa, detailing 99 pieces of evidence, which include statements from Neha’s father, mother, brother, friends, classmates, and instructors.
This charge sheet also encompasses eyewitness testimonies and CCTV recordings pertaining to the murder.
