Amaravati, June 22 (NationPress) - A significant new development has emerged in the case related to the tragic death of an individual during YSRCP President Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s rally on June 18 in Guntur district. A video has come to light, allegedly depicting the victim being struck by the vehicle transporting the former chief minister.
This video has rapidly gained traction on various social media platforms since Saturday, although its authenticity remains unverified.
In the footage, Jagan is seen standing at the door of his vehicle, greeting supporters eager to interact with him, when suddenly, a man is seen coming under the front wheel of the car.
The local police have yet to respond to this video, while the YSR Congress Party has labeled it as a deliberate attempt to damage their leader's reputation.
Cheeli Singaiah (65) lost his life after being hit by a vehicle from Jagan Mohan Reddy’s convoy on the National Highway near Etukuru village in Guntur.
The former chief minister was conducting a rally from Tadepalli to Sattenapalli to offer condolences to party member Korlakunta Nagamalleswara Rao, who tragically took his own life due to alleged police and TDP leader harassment.
According to authorities, Cheeli Singaiah attended the rally. Guntur District Superintendent of Police S. Satish Kumar confirmed that Singaiah was struck by a vehicle in Jagan’s convoy on the same day.
The SP further noted that the convoy did not halt to assist the victim after the incident.
Officers on patrol later discovered the victim and transported him to a hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
The police have initiated an investigation following the incident.
After the video surfaced, which purportedly shows the victim being struck by Jagan’s vehicle, state Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar accused the YSRCP leader of disregarding people's lives for his publicity.
Meanwhile, the YSR Congress Party has dismissed the video as 'fabricated' and a malicious attempt to undermine Jagan Mohan Reddy's image.
YSRCP leader and former minister Ambati Rambabu stated that the death incident during Jagan's Palnadu tour has been exaggerated.
“Immediately following the incident, TDP and its associates began a media trial aimed at spreading misinformation regarding YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, claiming that it was his vehicle that struck Singamayya, leading to his death. The SP confirmed that it was not Jagan’s vehicle but one from the convoy that caused the accident,” Rambabu informed the media.
The former minister emphasized that Jagan would prioritize ensuring the injured person received medical attention before continuing his tour. “TDP-friendly media is spreading false narratives to undermine the success of our leader’s tour,” he added.
Rambabu, who has faced legal action for violating police regulations during Jagan’s visit, accused the coalition government of abusing their power to settle political disputes and filing false cases to appease their political superiors, resorting to intimidation and seeking to disrupt Jagan Mohan Reddy’s outreach efforts.
He warned that such actions would only strengthen their resolve to oppose the government, asserting that attempts to tarnish Jagan Mohan Reddy’s reputation would result in increased public support.
