New Delhi, March 13 (NationPress) The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has officially requested a report from Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golchha within a period of two weeks regarding an alleged incident involving a Manipuri woman who was reportedly subjected to physical assault as a part of a racial abuse case, as stated by an official on Friday.

The incident allegedly occurred when she confronted a group of boys making lewd comments in the Malviya Nagar area of South Delhi in March, according to the official’s statement.

The NHRC took suo motu cognizance based on a media report indicating that the woman from Manipur was physically attacked upon voicing her objection to the racial slurs. It has been reported that the incident took place on March 8, 2026.

The Commission noted that if the allegations in the news report are substantiated, it raises significant concerns regarding the human rights violations faced by the victim, as per an official statement.

A notice was issued to the Delhi Police Commissioner, demanding a comprehensive report within two weeks, which should include updates on the victim’s health and the progress of the investigation.

According to a media report published on March 10, 2026, the incident occurred while the victim was taking photographs with a friend at a local park, as mentioned in the statement.

In a related development, the NHRC has also issued notices to the Chief Secretary of Haryana and the Police Commissioner of Gurugram, requesting a detailed report within two weeks regarding the tragic death of seven workers due to a wall collapse in the Bilaspur area of Gurugram on March 9.

Reports indicate that approximately ten additional workers may still be trapped under the debris. This incident occurred at a site designated for a sewage treatment plant intended for a forthcoming residential project.

The Commission remarked that if the details in the news report are accurate, it presents serious issues surrounding the human rights violations of the involved parties.

Consequently, notices were sent to the state's Chief Secretary and the Police Commissioner of Gurugram, requiring a detailed report on the situation within two weeks. This report is expected to cover the health status of the injured individuals, the investigation details, and any compensation provided to the deceased and injured parties' next of kin.

As indicated in the media report from March 10, rescue operations are currently underway involving police forces and various agencies, including civil defense teams, firefighters, and personnel from the State Disaster Response Force, who are actively searching for the workers trapped beneath the rubble.
