New Delhi, July 17 (NationPress) The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has requested a report within two weeks from the Railway Ministry and Haryana Police regarding the alleged gang rape of a woman in an unoccupied compartment of a stationary train in Panipat last month, as confirmed by an official on Thursday.
Reacting to a media report concerning the incident that occurred on June 24, the Commission indicated that if the details reported are accurate, they highlight significant concerns regarding the violation of human rights.
The NHRC has mandated that the report from state authorities and the Railways Ministry must encompass the victim's health status and any compensation provided to her.
The woman was reportedly gang raped in an unoccupied compartment of a stationary train in Panipat city and subsequently discarded onto the railway tracks by the assailants, where a train ran over her leg near Sonepat.
