New Delhi, July 11 (NationPress) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has apprehended the 11th key conspirator in the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) Pune sleeper cell investigation, intensifying its efforts against a network accused of orchestrating extensive terror attacks across India.
The captured individual, Rizwan Ali, also referred to as Abu Salma and Mola, was a notorious terrorist with a bounty of Rs 3 lakh on his head.
A Non-Bailable Warrant had been issued against him by the NIA Special Court related to case RC-05/2023/NIA/MUM. According to the NIA, Rizwan was significantly involved in the terror organization’s schemes aimed at instigating chaos in India.
“In the context of the anti-India conspiracy orchestrated by IS, which is known by several names, Rizwan actively participated in the reconnaissance and scouting of multiple locations intended as terrorist hideouts,” the NIA stated.
He also operated firing training sessions and instructed on the assembly of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), according to the ongoing NIA investigations.
Together with the 10 other individuals who have already been detained and are in judicial custody, Rizwan conspired to execute a range of terror activities aimed at destabilizing the nation and inciting communal discord.
In addition to Rizwan Ali, the other sleeper cell members taken into custody include Mohammed Imran Khan, Mohammed Yunus Saki, Abdul Kadir Pathan, Simab Nasiruddin Kazi, Zulfikar Ali Barodawala, Shamil Nachan, Akif Nachan, Shahnawaz Alam, Abdullah Faiyaz Shaikh, and Talha Khan.
All accused have been charged by the NIA under various provisions of the UA (P) Act, Explosive Substances Act, Arms Act, and the IPC. Rizwan’s arrest is a significant advancement for the NIA as it continues its campaign to dismantle ISIS-affiliated terror cells in India.
The agency stated that it is persisting with its investigation in this case as part of its effort to thwart the IS agenda to impose Islamic dominance in the country through violence and terror, waging war against the Government of India.
