Raipur, Sep 26 (NationPress) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has submitted a second supplementary charge sheet against two members of the banned CPI (Maoist) terrorist group regarding the horrific murder of BJP leader Ratan Dubey in Chhattisgarh last year. Officials confirmed this development on Friday.
Included in the charge sheet are Shivanand Nag and his father Narayan Prasad Nag, both alleged to have actively participated in the conspiracy that resulted in Dubey’s targeted assassination.
The charge sheet was presented on Thursday to the NIA Special Court located in Jagdalpur.
As per the agency, Shivanand Nag was a well-known operative of the CPI (Maoist) and had longstanding political, business, and personal conflicts with Dubey.
The investigation indicated that the murder was meticulously planned and strategically executed to disrupt the electoral process and instill fear within the local populace.
Dubey was brutally killed with axes in November 2023 while campaigning at a busy weekly market in Kaushalnar village, situated in the Jharaghati area of Narayanpur district.
The daylight attack sent shockwaves throughout the region and was widely denounced as an act of political terrorism.
The NIA, which assumed control of the case in February 2024, has since uncovered a wider network of involvement.
Investigators have traced connections to members of the Bayanar Area Committee and Barsoor Area Committee from the East Bastar Division of CPI (Maoist), including several active underground workers (OGWs).
Earlier, in June 2024, the agency filed its initial charge sheet against Dhan Singh Korram, another suspect in this case.
Additionally, two more individuals — Sanuram Korram and Laluram Korram — were arrested and charged in December 2024, further broadening the investigation's scope.
The latest charge sheet enhances the prosecution’s case by elaborating on the roles of Shivanand and Narayan Prasad Nag in orchestrating the murder, allegedly as part of a coordinated scheme to destabilize the region ahead of elections.
The NIA has reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling Maoist networks and delivering justice for victims of political violence. The case remains under close scrutiny, with further legal actions anticipated in the upcoming months.
