New Delhi, July 22 (NationPress) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has submitted a supplementary chargesheet against Firoz Khan, a prominent suspect in the 2022 Chittorgarh explosives case. This development is regarded as a significant advancement in the ongoing investigation into a purported terror-related conspiracy.
Firoz Khan was apprehended in April 2025 after evading capture for more than three years. Previously, he had been labeled a proclaimed offender by the NIA Special Court in Jaipur, which also issued a standing arrest warrant for him.
His name is now included in both the primary and supplementary chargesheets submitted to the court, encompassing various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Explosive Substances Act, and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act [UA(P)A].
The case, originally registered in April 2022 as RC-18/2022/NIA/DLI, revolves around the seizure of explosives and components for making IEDs in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan. Initial inquiries indicated that a group was actively scheming to create improvised explosive devices for alleged terrorist operations.
According to the NIA's findings, Firoz Khan played a crucial role in this conspiracy. He reportedly participated in several meetings with fellow conspirators and was directly involved in acquiring chemical materials necessary for IED fabrication.
The agency indicated that he operated under the guidance of Imran Khan, another significant suspect in the case.
Previously, in September 2022, the NIA had charged 11 individuals related to this case. A supplementary chargesheet was released in November 2023, further bolstering the prosecution's case.
The most recent chargesheet reinforces the NIA's claim that the accused are part of a larger network intended to disrupt public peace and security through orchestrated acts of violence.
With the arrest and chargesheeting of Firoz Khan, the agency is intensifying its efforts to apprehend those involved in terrorism-related activities throughout the country.
Ongoing investigations into the broader conspiracy are still underway, as confirmed by the agency.
