NIA Files Charges Against Two Individuals in Tamil Nadu Terror Conspiracy Case

New Delhi, Dec 24 (NationPress) The NIA has initiated legal proceedings in a special court located in Tamil Nadu against two individuals implicated in a terror conspiracy associated with the Hizb ut Tahrir (HuT) terrorist organization.

In its official chargesheet presented before the NIA Special Court, Poonamallee, Chennai, the individuals identified as Abdul Rehman also known as Abdul Rahman and Mujibur Rehman also referred to as Mujibur Rahman Altham Sahib have been charged with conspiring and preparing to execute terrorist activities aimed at promoting the HuT ideology in Tamil Nadu and beyond.

The investigations carried out by the NIA have uncovered that the accused collaborated with 'self-styled office bearers' of HuT to disseminate the organization’s ideology, which seeks to establish an Islamic Caliphate in India and implement a Sharia-compliant draft constitution authored by Taqi al-Din al-Nabhani.

According to the findings of the NIA investigation, the accused were engaged in recruiting Daris/students for HuT's clandestine sessions. They also organized 'Bayan' (religious exposition) classes and produced numerous short films to promote the organization’s anti-India narrative on various social media platforms.

Additionally, they organized an exhibition to display the military strength of Islamic nations that might be invited (Nussrah) to overthrow the legally established government in India through violent jihad and armed conflict.

In an unrelated case on Monday, the NIA made significant progress in the Punjab terror conspiracy investigation by apprehending a key accomplice of the designated Khalistani terrorist Lakhbir Singh alias Landa and gangster Bachitar Singh alias Pavitar Batala.

Jatinder Singh alias Jyoti from Gurdaspur, Punjab, had been evading capture since the arrest of weapons supplier Baljit Singh alias Rana Bhai in July 2024, and was apprehended in Mumbai following extensive technical and on-ground operations by the NIA.

The anti-terror agency has identified Jatinder as a member of the terror group established by the foreign-based Landa of the banned terrorist organization Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), and as an aide to Batala, who is a close associate of Landa.
