New Delhi, Sep 27 (NationPress) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has officially submitted a charge sheet against the primary perpetrator, Shamnad E K, involved in the murder of RSS leader Sreenivasan. Shamnad, affiliated with the banned Popular Front of India (PFI), faces multiple charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the UAPA Act, as detailed in the supplementary charge sheet presented to the NIA Special Court in Ernakulam, Kerala.

The NIA disclosed that Shamnad, also known as Shamnad Ellikkal, was apprehended in April after a prolonged search lasting three years. The agency continues its efforts to locate other absconders related to this case.

Sreenivasan was brutally murdered by armed members of the banned PFI in Palakkad in 2022, with a total of 71 individuals identified as accused in this case.

Shamnad, the 65th individual to be charged, had a reward of Rs 7 lakh on his head while evading law enforcement.

According to investigations, he was a trained member of the PFI's 'Service Wing', tasked with executing terrorist operations. In preparation for the heinous act against Sreenivasan, he received arms and physical training at various PFI facilities in Malappuram district, including Malabar House at Randathani, Green Valley at Manjeri, and the PFI office at Achipilakkal.

This murder was part of a broader conspiracy by the PFI to instill fear and establish Islamic Rule in India by 2047.

Earlier this June, a supplementary charge sheet was filed, naming Rafeek M S as the 64th person charged, who was also implicated under several sections of the IPC and the UAPA. Rafeek was found to be an active PFI cadre who conspired with others and harbored key accused Muhammad Shefeek, aiding in the destruction of crucial evidence.

Despite the PFI’s ban by the Government of India in September 2022, Rafeek continued to provide shelter to Shefeek.

Point of View

The ongoing investigations by the NIA highlight the urgency of addressing extremist elements within our society. It is crucial for law enforcement to remain vigilant and proactive in countering any threats to national security. The NIA's efforts in this case must be supported to ensure justice for Sreenivasan and maintain the rule of law.
