New Delhi, Nov 12 (NationPress) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has established a dedicated team of 10 officers to probe the explosion that occurred near the Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi. This specialized unit will be headed by NIA ADG Vijay Sakhare and will comprise an IG, two DIGs, three SPs, and the remaining members at the DSP level, as reported on Wednesday.
This development follows the Home Ministry's decision on Tuesday to transfer the investigation of the Delhi blast to the NIA.
The explosion took place on the evening of November 10, when a car registered in Haryana, parked near Gate No.1 of the Red Fort Metro Station, detonated, resulting in the deaths of at least eight individuals and injuring many others.
The NIA received the case after Union Home Minister Amit Shah reviewed the ongoing investigation and multi-state searches connected to the Delhi blast, reaffirming Prime Minister Narendra Modi's commitment to ensuring justice for the victims.
During a meeting at his residence with top security officials, Home Minister Shah instructed them to thoroughly investigate the conspiracy as swiftly as possible.
Authorities are currently analyzing over 1,000 CCTV footage clips, with investigative agencies suspecting that the car explosion may have been a suicide attack designed to inflict maximum harm, according to sources within the Delhi Police.
Investigators are also closely monitoring social media interactions and collecting mobile phone data from multiple locations across Delhi.
As per police sources, data is being extracted from all mobile devices that were active in the vicinity of the Red Fort area. This information could assist in identifying phone numbers and communication links related to the car bombing.
Home Minister Shah has directed the NIA, IB, and Delhi Police Special Cell to collaborate effectively, emphasizing that “No stone will be left unturned.”
Heightened security alerts have been issued in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Mumbai, with increased security measures implemented around crowded public venues and religious sites.
