Dharamsala, July 4 (NationPress) - A unit from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) executed a raid on the commercial establishment belonging to Sunny, the proprietor of Sunny Communication Centre, located close to the Dalai Lama’s palace in McLeodganj, which serves as the seat of the Tibetan government-in-exile.
The individual in question recently tied the knot with a foreign national.
The agency is currently scrutinizing bank statements and various documents associated with Sunny.
A contingent of 10 to 12 NIA officers arrived from Chandigarh around 4 a.m. to carry out the operation.
While the inquiry progresses, the NIA representatives have yet to release any official statement concerning the raid.
Sunny’s recent marriage to a Russian woman and his sudden wealth have raised eyebrows.
He has also acquired a three-story residence, which is under investigation for potential international affiliations.
Reports indicate that the NIA is exploring Sunny’s possible ties with foreign entities, especially those connected to Khalistani networks operating both domestically and internationally.
The agency has confiscated numerous documents, computer hard drives, and mobile devices for further forensic analysis.
Locally, the police remain uninformed about the NIA's raid.
Station House Officer (SHO) Deepak Kumar stated that the local police were not pre-informed about the NIA’s actions.
“The operation seems to relate to significant security concerns,” he remarked.
More information is anticipated shortly.
SHO Deepak Kumar confirmed that they are trying to gather the details regarding the NIA’s operation. Another official suggested that the raid is linked to alleged terror financing activities that support Khalistani groups.
In the previous month, the NIA undertook a series of raids across Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh to investigate the Khalistani terror network.
The NIA teams launched searches at 18 locations across these northern states, seizing various incriminating items, such as mobile devices, digital equipment, and documents. The raids targeted premises associated with the banned organization Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) operative Kulbir Sidhu, US-based gangster Manish alias Kaka Rana, and their affiliates across different countries, as per the statement from the investigative body.
