Nitin Nabin: NDA's Commitment to Assam's Progress and Identity Preservation
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Guwahati, April 4 (NationPress) - BJP's national president Nitin Nabin stated on Saturday that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government has effectively facilitated both development and the preservation of Assam’s heritage over the last ten years, revitalizing areas that were previously neglected and unstable.
Speaking at an election rally in the Ramkrishna Nagar Assembly constituency of Sribhumi district, the BJP chief accused past administrations of turning regions like Barak Valley into “crime hubs” through vote-bank driven politics.
Reflecting on his experiences in the area between 2010 and 2012 as a youth leader, Nabin remarked that the region was characterized by unrest, inadequate connectivity, and significant public distress.
“The people faced challenges with poor road conditions, making travel from Guwahati to Barak Valley extremely difficult. Today, that scenario has dramatically improved. Enhanced road infrastructure has made connectivity effortless and accessible,” he asserted.
Emphasizing the infrastructure advancements under the NDA, he acknowledged the public's support in allowing the government to establish a robust road network throughout the state, which has greatly enhanced mobility and economic progress.
In his critique of the Indian National Congress, Nabin claimed that during its time in power, there was a lack of both livelihood security and safety for women and local communities. “Basic necessities and job opportunities were a struggle. There was no safety for ‘roti’, ‘beti’, or ‘maati’, and the focus was on appeasement politics,” he alleged.
He further accused previous governments of neglecting the concerns of indigenous people while showing sympathy towards infiltrators, asserting that voters in Assam have responded negatively to such politics.
Contrasting former governance with the current administration, Nabin noted that previous governments were more concerned with personal interests, whereas under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the welfare of the impoverished has taken precedence.
“Thanks to the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, approximately 22 lakh homes have been constructed for the underprivileged in Assam alone,” he reported. He encouraged voters to maintain their support for the BJP to continue the momentum of development in the state.
