Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Jan 20 (NationPress) Following his election as the new BJP National President on Tuesday, Nitin Nabin remarked that this occasion signifies "a moment of resolve" for him, as he is not merely taking on a role but also embracing the "ideology, traditions, and the duty of a nationalist movement of the party".
Nitin Nabin was appointed the BJP National President during the organizational event (Sangathan Parv) held at the party's headquarters in New Delhi, marking him as the youngest individual to occupy this position.
The outgoing BJP national president, J.P. Nadda, alongside Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, honored the newly-elected BJP National President Nabin at the party's headquarters in Delhi.
In his address to the attendees, Nabin expressed, "Today, more than anything, I wish to extend my heartfelt thanks to all of you. You have enabled an ordinary worker like me to reach this prestigious position within the party, and I truly value it. Prime Minister, I wish to share my sincere gratitude to you, as we, the common workers, have always observed you diligently laboring for the service of our nation."
Reflecting on an event with PM Modi in Anand, Gujarat, he recounted, "Back then, I served as the National General Secretary, and I noticed how you engaged with each person during the Sadbhavana Mission programme. After the event, when you spoke to us in your green room, you articulated with great passion the reasons behind the significant turnout from Gujarat."
On that day, the new BJP chief realized that a "person becomes great when they emotionally connect with the public".
Nabin also expressed his appreciation for the former BJP National Presidents J.P. Nadda, Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, and Rajnath Singh for their contributions during their tenures.
"I offer my heartfelt congratulations to the past national presidents; they have significantly contributed to elevating the party to this stage," he stated.
"We are part of a political entity where politics is not about power; it is a spiritual endeavor, not about indulgence but sacrifice. It is not about luxury and comfort; it is about austerity. Politics is not merely a position of authority; it is a duty," Nabin declared.
"Today marks a moment of determination for me. I am not just taking on a role, but accepting the ideology, traditions, and responsibilities of a nationalist movement within this party," he stated.
"Today, 1.4 billion Indians are aligning themselves with the vision of a Viksit Bharat and working towards progressing the nation," Nabin acknowledged, attributing this to the Prime Minister.
The newly appointed BJP chief reminisced about the time when PM Modi repealed Article 370, stating, "The atmosphere in Kashmir transformed, and now the Tricolour proudly flies in every corner of Kashmir."
"We operate with the ethos of 'Nation First, Party Next, and Self Last'," he added.
As the sole candidate, Nabin was officially elected by the electoral college consisting of members from both the national and state councils of the BJP.
This process adheres to BJP regulations, which necessitate that a candidate be nominated by at least 20 electoral college members from a state and possess a minimum of 15 years of party membership.
Nabin's elevation is perceived as a strategic initiative to introduce youthful leadership into the party structure while ensuring continuity.
