New Delhi, Nov 7 (NationPress) The Election Commission of India (ECI) declared on Friday that there will be no re-polls suggested for the first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections following a comprehensive post-poll review of voting records and associated documents.
In an official release, the ECI stated that the examination of Form 17A (Register of Voters) along with other election-day documents was conducted across all 121 Assembly constituencies where the first phase voting took place.
This procedure, which aimed to promote transparency and pinpoint any irregularities at polling locations, was executed seamlessly with the oversight of 121 Returning Officers and an equal number of General Observers appointed by the Commission.
Approximately 455 candidates and their representatives participated in the scrutiny process.
The Commission had previously provided thorough guidelines for post-poll verification, reaffirming its dedication to conducting fair and transparent elections.
“Following the examination, no discrepancies or malpractices were identified at any polling stations; hence, no re-poll was advised for Phase-I of the Bihar Legislative Assembly elections,” the ECI stated in its announcement.
Officials confirmed that the entire scrutiny was recorded on video for documentation and transparency purposes. Once the assessment was concluded, all Forms 17A and related electoral materials were resealed with the official seal of the Returning Officers.
“The entire assessment was videographed, and upon completion, the Forms 17A and related materials were resealed with the RO’s seal,” the statement added.
