New Delhi, Dec 17 (NationPress) A significant political uproar has emerged following senior Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan's comments regarding Operation Sindoor, in which he stated that India faced a defeat on the first day of the military operation against Pakistan in May.
Union Minister Giriraj Singh condemned Chavan, asserting that no individual has the authority to belittle the valor of the armed forces and accused the Congress party of jeopardizing national interests.
Singh criticized the Congress leader, stating, "No one possesses the right to demean or insult the bravery of our armed forces. Those who tarnish the reputation of our military can never act in the nation’s best interest. Whether it is the Congress party or any other group, both genuine and fake, the opposition has cultivated a habit of disparaging the country and the courage of our armed forces. This nation will not stand for it."
BJP MP Rajkumar Chahar also remarked that Chavan's statements were detrimental to the military's morale.
"Such comments are a direct insult to our armed forces. Individuals making such statements work to demoralize our military. The outcome of Operation Sindoor was observed globally, and everyone recognizes how Pakistan was handled. I hope Congress leaders gain some wisdom. Their despair and frustration are evident, leading them to speak favorably of Pakistan," he added.
BJP Rajya Sabha MP Brijlal further denounced Chavan's remarks, describing them as "unfortunate" and indicative of a chronic Congress mindset.
"This is truly regrettable. The Congress has consistently pursued a policy of humiliating India. Their leader, Rahul Gandhi, often insults India whenever he travels abroad. Successful operations like 'Op Sindoor', which receive praise worldwide, are completely overlooked by them," he stated.
"Following Operation Sindoor, we visited Japan, South Korea, and other nations where parliamentary delegations from all parties were present, and everyone commended Operation Sindoor. These individuals cater to pro-Pakistan agendas and do not hesitate to demean their own country for the sake of appeasement politics. I strongly condemn the statements made by Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan," Brijlal emphasized.
Chavan ignited considerable controversy with his comments about Operation Sindoor. The senior Congress figure called for a thorough investigation into the events in Pahalgam on April 22 and insisted that the details surrounding Operation Sindoor be disclosed.
He claimed that India was defeated on the operation's first day and alleged that Indian aircraft were downed during the four-day military engagement.
During a press conference in Pune, Chavan stated, "On the first day (of Operation Sindoor), we faced a complete defeat. In the half-hour aerial engagement that occurred on the 7th, we were entirely defeated, whether people accept it or not."
