Itanagar, Oct 30 (NationPress) The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Lt. General K.T. Parnaik (Retd.), expressed on Thursday that the entire Northeastern region is currently in a golden era of growth thanks to the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, propelled by the action-driven and outcome-focused 'Act East Policy'.
During his role as Chief Guest at the inaugural convocation of Arunachal Pradesh University, the Governor noted that the Prime Minister’s vision and initiatives have ushered in unmatched financial and infrastructural support for the state. He urged everyone to ensure that this progress is not hindered by selfish agendas, advocating for honesty, fairness, and selfless service, particularly towards those in the border and frontier regions.
The Governor encouraged the graduating students to allow transparency to steer their actions, integrity to shape their decisions, and professionalism to define their conduct, reminding them that authentic success is measured not just by achievements but also by the manner in which these achievements are realized.
He stated that the Prime Minister’s vision of a developed India by 2047 is a shared mission that relies on the innovation, integrity, and leadership of the youth.
Lt. Gen. Parnaik highlighted that the newly founded Arunachal Pradesh University stands at a pivotal moment, with the chance to draw lessons from global institutions while crafting an educational model steeped in local values and aspirations. He stressed that research and innovation should be the core of the university, nurturing curiosity, critical thinking, and the courage to pose transformative questions.
“Genuine education, as outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, should transcend classrooms and textbooks to cultivate character, build courage, and instill compassion,” he remarked. The Governor further emphasized that the NEP positions teachers at the heart of educational reforms, recognizing them as true nation-builders who influence the future of society. He called for honoring, empowering, and inspiring teachers to guide upcoming generations and contribute to a stronger, enlightened India.
Discussing his decade-long vision for the university, the Governor stated it must transform into a paragon of academic excellence and human development. He encouraged initiatives such as village adoption, cleanliness campaigns, anti-drug drives, and programs focused on women and child health to instill social responsibility among students.
Expressing his joy that 66 percent of successful candidates and nearly all of the top scorers were female students, Lt. Gen. Parnaik remarked that this is indicative of the spirit of women’s empowerment and the evolving social dynamics of Arunachal Pradesh.
As Chancellor of the University, the Governor also proposed the establishment of a Centre of Excellence for Tribal Studies to celebrate Arunachal’s rich cultural diversity, alongside a Community Radio Station to amplify the voice of the people, fostering awareness, education, and positive narratives throughout the region.
