Nripendra Misra, Chairman of the Ram Mandir Construction Committee, on Sunday, 12 July clarified that the appointment of a Chief Executive Officer to oversee the day-to-day administration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya will not dilute the authority of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. Misra stated that the CEO will function strictly within the trust's framework, taking guidance from the general secretary and operating on the trust's mandate, with no room for government interference.

Trust Hierarchy Remains Unchanged

Misra was unequivocal that the new executive role is an additive layer, not a structural overhaul. 'The CEO will be an additional link in the system. The hierarchy of the existing system is not being disturbed. The trust is supreme, and its decisions will be final,' he said, addressing concerns about a possible shift in the temple's governance structure.

The CEO's responsibilities, according to Misra, will span the full scope of temple administration — but always within the bounds set by the trust's general secretary and the broader trust body. The arrangement is designed to bring operational efficiency without altering the chain of command.

Devotee-First Approach at the Core

Misra stressed that the guiding principle behind every administrative decision at the Ram Temple must be the welfare and experience of devotees. 'The devotee is always the central focus of the temple, nothing else. A temple exists for its devotees, and whenever we make decisions or take any step, the devotee should remain at the centre of our thoughts and actions,' he said.

He added that prayers at the temple are ultimately directed toward the nation's progress and the well-being of all citizens. 'We pray to Lord Ram, the embodiment of righteousness and virtue, to bless the nation with greater progress and ensure the well-being of all its citizens,' Misra said.

Donation Row Has Not Deterred Devotees

Addressing the ongoing controversy over donations received at the temple, Misra said there are no visible signs of declining footfall or erosion of trust among pilgrims. He acknowledged he does not have precise data on donation inflows or visitor numbers since the row surfaced, but said personal interactions with devotees painted a reassuring picture.

'The personal feedback I received after talking to devotees is that their focus continues to be on Lord Ram and offering prayers to Him, and they will continue to come in large numbers,' he said. Misra also noted that crowds at the temple swell on weekends, with significant gatherings reported at Hanuman Garhi as well — directly countering suggestions of a drop in pilgrim numbers.

What the New CEO Arrangement Means

The decision to appoint a CEO for the Ram Mandir marks a professionalisation of temple management at one of India's most prominent religious sites. Notably, this comes at a time when the trust has faced scrutiny over financial transparency following the donation controversy. The CEO role, as described by Misra, is intended to streamline operations rather than centralise power — a distinction the Construction Committee Chairman was careful to draw.

With the trust retaining final authority and the CEO positioned as an operational facilitator, the governance model mirrors structures seen at other major temple trusts in India, such as the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams. Whether this arrangement satisfies calls for greater accountability will depend on how transparently the new role is executed in the months ahead.
