Bhubaneswar, Feb 12 (NationPress) An all-party meeting took place here on Wednesday in preparation for the upcoming budget session set to start on Thursday.

Political leaders from various parties convened for the all-party meeting chaired by Speaker Surama Padhy at her office within the Odisha Assembly.

Among those present were Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mukesh Mahaling, senior BJD leader Pramila Mallik, and Congress legislative party leader Rama Chandra Kadam.

After the meeting, BJD chief whip Mallik informed the media: 'Conversations focused on ensuring the efficient operation of the Assembly during the budget session. The Governor will address the assembly, and the budget will be presented as planned. The assembly will function according to established procedures.'

She also endorsed the initiative for a paperless Assembly. Notably, all 147 MLAs have been equipped with tablets to replace traditional paper documents for their legislative tasks.

The process for submitting questions, along with the relevant correspondence with the concerned ministries, is anticipated to transition entirely to a paperless system in the Odisha assembly.

'This session signifies a pivotal shift as the Odisha Assembly embraces a paperless model, in line with Prime Minister Modi's 'One Nation, One Application' vision through the e-Vidhan Application,' noted Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mukesh Mahaling.

He further stated that members can now digitally log their attendance, and all documentation, including questions, responses, and their activities, will be systematically monitored in a digital format.

In the meantime, the Chief Minister visited Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati at Raj Bhavan in anticipation of the Assembly Budget Session.

The third session of the 17th Odisha Legislative Assembly is set to commence with the Governor’s address on Thursday.

'The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, met with me at Raj Bhavan this morning. We had an extensive discussion on diverse developmental projects, the state’s accomplishments, and the strategy for future advancements,' Governor Kambhampati posted on his X account.

The budget session is designed to last for 28 working days, concluding on April 5. The annual budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 is scheduled to be presented in the assembly on February 17.
