Bhubaneswar, Feb 24 (NationPress) Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday took part in the third iteration of the Kashi Tamil Sangamam (KTS 3.0) held in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
During the event, CM Majhi articulated that the Kashi Tamil Sangamam represents a celebration of the profound cultural and spiritual ties between two of the nation’s oldest and esteemed regions—Kashi and Tamil Nadu.
Majhi expressed his pride in representing the people of Odisha, a state similarly rich in heritage, tradition, and culture. He referred to Kashi as the embodiment of India’s everlasting spiritual legacy where the Ganga flows, steeped in the wisdom of ages, sharing narratives of devotion, education, and enlightenment.
He further remarked that Tamil Nadu, renowned for its classical language, exquisite literature, stunning temples, and deep philosophical traditions, signifies another facet of India’s ageless culture.
The Sangamam illustrates India’s unity in diversity, where various regions, traditions, and cultures coexist with mutual respect.
“Odisha shares this ethos as well. Our state hosts the magnificent Jagannath Temple in Puri, attracting pilgrims nationwide, akin to Kashi. The Rath Yatra, our distinguished chariot festival, resembles the grand spiritual traditions evident in Tamil Nadu’s temple processions. Our classical Odissi dance and Tamil Nadu’s Bharatanatyam both convey the language of devotion and storytelling, transcending regional and linguistic barriers,” stated Majhi.
The Chief Minister of Odisha declared that the Kashi Tamil Sangamam acts as a connection between the North and South, celebrating shared traditions and cultural harmony.
He remarked that this cultural synthesis is what renders India a truly unique and vibrant nation. Majhi expressed gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UP CM Yogi Adityanath, congratulating the organizers for their endeavor to unite the cultural essence of Kashi and Tamil Nadu.
He voiced his belief that this exchange of ideas, art, and spirituality will continue to motivate future generations of the nation.
“Let us carry this spirit of unity and understanding forward. May the Ganga and the Cauvery, the Jagannath Temple and the Meenakshi Amman Temple, the Odissi and the Bharatanatyam, along with the wisdom of our saints, guide us toward harmony and progress,” he remarked.
On the same day, CM Majhi prayed at the renowned Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi and visited Sarnath, where Lord Buddha delivered his inaugural sermon, located near Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh.
