Bhubaneswar, Sep 6 (NationPress) Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has called upon educators to take on the role of mentors for their students, in addition to offering them vital education to assist in realizing their aspirations.

While speaking at the state-level observance of Teachers' Day on Friday, CM Majhi stated, "Today, countless opportunities exist in various sectors to uncover the latent talents in every child. Allow them to soar on their own, encourage their dreams, and mentor them so they can reach their goals."

The Chief Minister highlighted that the current education system faces two major challenges.

He explained that the first challenge is to significantly lower the dropout rates, and the second is to guarantee a system that provides quality education for everyone.

CM Majhi mentioned that the mid-day meal program has effectively helped in minimizing dropouts.

He noted that the state government has extended this initiative up to Class 10 and is also ensuring that children receive nutritious meals.

He further mentioned that tribal children are being supported through the 'Shahid Madho Singh Haath Kharcha Yojana'.

"All of these initiatives will undoubtedly aid in further decreasing the dropout rates in the near future. Similarly, the New Education Policy has been enacted to ensure quality education for students across the state," the Chief Minister remarked.

CM Majhi also announced the launch of the Godabarish Mishra Adarsha Prathamik Vidyalaya scheme aimed at ensuring quality education at the primary level.

Under this initiative, one model school will be established in every panchayat.

In the initial phase, a plan has been finalized to construct 835 schools with a budget of ₹5 to ₹7 crore.

Furthermore, 45,000 teaching positions at the primary level are set to be filled within the next three years.

"Our objective is to create a 'Sammrudha Odisha' or prosperous Odisha by 2036. The foundation of this prosperous Odisha relies on the talents of today’s students. You all know how to guide children and develop them into responsible individuals. I trust that you will earnestly embrace the responsibility of nurturing and enhancing those talents," CM added.

During the event on Friday, Chief Minister Majhi noted that Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan serves as an inspiration for every student and teacher.

"He was not only a distinguished educator, philosopher, or statesman, but also one of India’s greatest teachers," he remarked.

On Teachers' Day, CM Majhi honored various districts, teachers, and officials from the education department under the 'Mukhyamantri Shikhya Puraskar' initiative.
