Bhubaneswar, Aug 6 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Odisha, Mohan Charan Majhi, met with the Union Minister for Steel and Heavy Industries, H.D. Kumaraswamy, on Wednesday in New Delhi to discuss ways to enhance the growth of the steel sector in Odisha.
The discussions aimed at promoting significant projects and strategic partnerships to reinforce Odisha's position as a leader in India's steel industry.
Kumaraswamy emphasized the crucial role that Odisha plays in the nation's steel production capacity and reaffirmed the Government's unwavering commitment to boosting growth under the stewardship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
A key topic was the expansion of the Rourkela Steel Plant, a vital facility operated by SAIL. The Union Minister assured the Chief Minister that the Ministry would provide all necessary assistance to alleviate obstacles and enhance production capacity, aiming to elevate Rourkela into a premier steel manufacturing hub.
The meeting also included talks on establishing new iron ore mines throughout the state to ensure a reliable supply of raw materials.
Kumaraswamy pointed out that dependable and efficient access to iron ore is essential for both public and private sector steel plants, which is vital for maintaining India's competitive advantage on a global scale.
“Odisha possesses the potential to spearhead India’s steel revolution,” the Union Minister remarked. “In collaboration with the state government, we will ensure that infrastructure, investment, and job opportunities in the sector continue to expand rapidly.”
The dialogue concluded with a mutual aspiration to establish Odisha as a model state for industrial momentum, mineral development, and steel excellence, significantly contributing to Aatmanirbhar Bharat, Viksit Bharat @2047, and PM Modi’s vision of achieving 300 MTPA by 2030.
Earlier in the day, CM Majhi also engaged with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Prahlad Joshi, and Union Jal Shakti Minister C. R. Paatil, discussing various issues pertinent to Odisha.
“I had a courtesy visit with Hon’ble Union Home Minister Amit Shah Ji today in New Delhi. We discussed Centre-State coordination and several developmental initiatives of the State,” CM Majhi posted on his X handle.
