Bhubaneswar, May 15 (NationPress) Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi urged district-level development officers to prioritize the welfare of the community by shedding outdated practices and political biases that were prevalent during previous administrations.

In a conference held at the Lok Seva Bhawan Convention Hall on Thursday, CM Majhi emphasized the need for officers to refrain from mistreating elected representatives. He shared his personal experience of encountering such disrespect while serving as a Sarpanch.

He encouraged the officers to collaborate closely with the representatives of the people. CM Majhi also highlighted the importance of utilizing human resources over machines for labor-intensive projects under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, which can significantly alleviate the issues of labor migration and enhance the economic conditions of the rural poor.

He called upon the BDOs and CDOs to dedicate themselves to their roles, viewing themselves as public servants. “You have been appointed to serve the people, so it is your duty to work with sincerity and sense of service. I want to make it clear here that strict action will be taken if you neglect performing your duty. Corruption or negligence will not be tolerated under any circumstances,” said Majhi.

During his address, he also laid out a comprehensive plan for a “Vikshit Odisha” (Developed Odisha).

He stressed the vital role of the Panchayati Raj Department in reshaping rural Odisha, stating the government’s commitment to fostering a prosperous and developed Odisha through targeted grassroots initiatives.

In alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Viksit Bharat”, CM Majhi underscored the necessity of comprehensive village development.

“Every panchayat and village should possess at least one micro-tourism center, a connecting road, resource centers, and access to essential services like drinking water, quality education, Anganwadi centers, and agricultural assistance,” he stated.

CM Majhi remarked, “The efficiency of a block hinges on the dedication of its officers. Villagers should be able to visit the block office and quickly resolve their issues, whether related to housing, drinking water, ration cards, or agricultural needs.”

He urged officials to be active listeners and effective problem-solvers, asserting that their proactive involvement is crucial for meeting the aspirations of the populace and realizing the vision of a thriving Odisha.
