Bhubaneswar, Feb 15 (NationPress) The Odisha Congress is set to initiate the Sankalpa Padayatra from Bhubaneswar to Puri on February 18. The Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) has called on all party leaders and members to take part in this significant event planned for Tuesday.

“We are committed to conducting a Sankalpa Padayatra starting from Biju Patnaik Airport on February 18, 2025, leading to the Lord Jagannath Temple in Puri. We encourage all leaders and party workers to be actively involved in this initiative,” stated the OPCC on Friday.

Additionally, the OPCC has established a committee to oversee the coordination of this Sankalpa Padayatra from Bhubaneswar to Puri.

Ex-MLA Debasis Pattnaik has been appointed as the Chairman of a 16-member committee that includes prominent figures such as Ex-MLA Mohammed Moquim, Congress legislators Ramesh Jena, Dasarathi Gomanga, C.S. Raazen Ekka, Kadraka Appala Swamy, and Ashok Kumar Das.

It is worth noting that the newly appointed OPCC president Bhakta Charan Das has previously initiated Padayatras and cycling tours across the state addressing various social issues.

In another important move on Friday, Das lifted previous suspension and expulsion orders against party leaders, allowing them to rejoin the Congress.

He also invited former Congress members who had departed for various reasons to return.

“If they express a desire to rejoin the Congress party and trust its policies and principles, they will be welcomed back with respect,” Das remarked on Friday.

Significantly, the All India Congress Committee appointed former union minister and seasoned Congress leader Das as the new president of OPCC on February 11. Having previously served as both the working president and general secretary of OPCC, Das has committed to collaborating with all senior and junior leaders and party workers.
