Bhubaneswar, March 4 (NationPress) A young man reportedly took the lives of his father, mother, and sister during a family dispute in the Jagatsinghpur district of Odisha on Tuesday. The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Surykanta Sethi from Dhoba Sahi in Jayagada village, allegedly committed the act.
The authorities revealed that Surykanta fatally struck his father Prasanta Sethi (alias Kalia), mother Kanakalata Sethi, and sister Mamali Sethi with a stone or an iron object. The investigation was promptly initiated by the Inspector in charge of the Sadar police station after they arrived at the scene. The suspect was apprehended shortly after the incident, and it appears he may be grappling with mental health challenges, according to Bhawani Sankar Udgata, the Superintendent of Police in Jagatsinghpur.
A villager who alerted the police about this horrific event stated that Surykanta visited him and confessed to the murders. When villagers arrived at his home, they discovered the victims' bodies in a pool of blood.
