The Madhya Pradesh government on Thursday, 25 June disbursed ₹203.56 crore as social security pension to more than 33.92 lakh beneficiaries across the state, covering senior citizens, widows, differently-abled persons, and other eligible recipients under various welfare schemes. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav released the funds for the month of May via direct benefit transfer (DBT) during a virtual programme conducted from his office.

How the Disbursement Was Carried Out

The entire pension amount was transferred to beneficiaries' bank accounts in a single transaction through the direct benefit transfer mechanism, eliminating intermediaries. Beneficiaries from multiple districts — including senior citizens and women — joined the virtual event through online platforms to witness the transfer in real time.

What Chief Minister Yadav Said

Addressing beneficiaries during the programme, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said the welfare of the poor, the elderly, and the differently-abled remains a central priority of the state government. 'Social security pensions are not merely financial assistance. They represent the government's commitment to providing dignity, respect and a sense of security to the poor, the elderly and differently-abled citizens. We consider every beneficiary a member of our family,' he said.

Invoking the principle of Antyodaya — reaching the last person in line — Yadav said welfare schemes are designed to support those who need it most. 'The blessings of elders are like shade in the scorching heat. Serving senior citizens and supporting the most vulnerable sections of society is not only a responsibility but also our moral duty,' he added in a statement issued to the press.

Broader Welfare Context

The Chief Minister also highlighted ongoing welfare initiatives of both the Centre and the state government during the programme. He said schemes related to food security, housing, healthcare, drinking water, and clean cooking fuel had contributed significantly to improving the lives of poor families across Madhya Pradesh.

This monthly pension disbursement is a recurring component of the state's social security framework, which channels financial assistance to vulnerable sections of society through multiple scheme categories.
