Chandigarh, May 19 (NationPress) The National General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Tarun Chugh, expressed strong disapproval on Monday regarding the drone and missile assault that Pakistan had attempted on the Golden Temple in Amritsar.
This alarming incident raises serious concerns as it occurred during a time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been making significant efforts to strengthen connections for Sikh pilgrims, notably by facilitating journeys to Shri Kartarpur Sahib in Pakistan,” he stated.
Chugh pointed out that for many years, Pakistan has attempted to incite terrorism in Punjab, and this latest attack on Shri Harmandir Sahib marks a new low in its ongoing strategy of destabilization.
He emphasized that the foiled attack was not just a military challenge but also an insult to the profound spiritual and cultural legacy of Punjab.
While praising the Indian armed forces for effectively neutralizing the threat, Chugh condemned Pakistan’s recent missile strike on a gurdwara in Jammu and Kashmir, labeling it as part of a disturbing trend of targeting religious sites to incite turmoil.
Describing the event as a clear demonstration of Pakistan’s desperation and ill intent, Chugh noted that following the success of Operation Sindoor, which dismantled significant terror infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, Pakistan is now exposed and shaken.
“Out of desperation, it is now attempting to strike at symbolic and nationally significant landmarks, but India remains vigilant, determined, and united to protect every inch of its territory and heritage,” he asserted.
On the same day, the Indian Army showcased a demonstration illustrating how Indian air defense systems, particularly the AKASH missile system, thwarted the missile and drone threats from Pakistan, safeguarding the Golden Temple and the cities of Punjab. Additionally, the Army displayed debris from the intercepted Pakistani missiles and drones.
