New Delhi, April 23 (NationPress) Two influential Maulanas have expressed strong condemnation of the recent horrific terror attack in Pahalgam, located in Jammu and Kashmir, pointing fingers at Pakistan for harboring and supporting terrorist groups like ISIS, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Al-Qaeda.
The brutal attack occurred on Tuesday in the Baisaran Valley near Pahalgam, where heavily armed terrorists allegedly emerged from the dense forests and opened fire indiscriminately on a group of tourists. This incident has been termed one of the most horrific events in recent times in the region.
In an interview with IANS, the National President of the All India Muslim Jamaat (AIMJ), Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi, condemned the attack as a conspiracy against both Islam and humanity.
He asserted that targeting tourists by inquiring about their names is entirely against the principles of Islam.
“No religion condones such brutality,” he stressed.
“This is a calculated effort to tarnish the image of Islam, perpetrated by terrorist groups that falsely claim to represent it.”
Maulana Shahabuddin stated that organizations like ISIS, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Al-Qaeda have no ties to the genuine teachings of Islam. He accused Pakistan of being the primary supporter of these groups, providing them with shelter and resources.
“Pakistan’s involvement in nurturing terrorism is widely recognized,” he remarked.
“It is evident that Pakistan is the mastermind behind this terror attack.”
He urged the Indian government to bring this issue to the attention of the United Nations to unveil Pakistan's true nature to the global community.
“Terrorists like Hafiz Saeed enjoy protection from Pakistan, and groups like Lashkar operate freely from its territory,” he continued.
“This assault is part of a larger strategy aimed at destabilizing India and instilling fear among its citizens.”
He also denounced the attack for specifically targeting individuals based on their religion, labeling it an assault on humanity and the essence of Islam.
“Indian Muslims are deeply wounded by this incident and stand in total support of the victims' families,” he concluded.
He called for stringent action from the Indian government to ensure such heinous acts are not repeated in the name of religion.
“One day, the Tricolour will wave over Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir as well,” he added.
Maulana Khalid Rasheed Farangi Mahali, the Head of the Islamic Centre of India, also denounced the attack, asserting that terrorism can never be justified in any context.
He remarked, “We categorically condemn the terror attack in Pahalgam. Today, at our madrasa, students and teachers from the Shaheen Academy offered special prayers for the victims and their families.”
He called on the government to take strict measures against the attackers and urged the people of Jammu and Kashmir to maintain peace.
“We urge everyone not to associate this incident with any religion or community. A terrorist is simply a terrorist and should not be linked to any faith. We issued a fatwa against terrorism in 2006 and continue to support the nation in this battle,” he concluded.
