Patna, Oct 19 (NationPress) Bihar leader Pappu Yadav, who integrated his Jan Adhikar Party with the Congress last year, has strongly criticized the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) regarding the ongoing seat-sharing impasse in the Mahagathbandhan. He holds the RJD accountable for the electoral setback in the crucial state elections.

In a statement to IANS on Sunday, Yadav, a six-time member of parliament, explicitly pointed fingers at the RJD for the deadlock in the grand alliance, claiming it has denied the rights of the underprivileged and marginalized communities.

The Purnea MP also offered counsel to RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, remarking, “Lalu ji, this situation is untenable. You must adhere to the gathbandhan dharma. The JMM deserves representation in our coalition.”

Advocating for the Hemant Soren-led JMM, he insisted that the gathbandhan dharma should be honored, suggesting that the party should have been allocated 3-4 seats. Due to being sidelined in the alliance, the JMM is now mulling running independently in six constituencies for the upcoming elections.

With the deadline for nominations for the initial phase of the Assembly elections approaching and October 20 being the last day to withdraw nominations, the grand alliance finds itself at a critical juncture, with unity still elusive as key parties clash over various issues.

Yadav further criticized the RJD, questioning the logic of nominating a candidate in the Lalganj constituency when the Congress had already chosen a deserving candidate from the backward community.

“There can be no compromise on the rights of the extremely backward and Dalit communities,” Yadav emphasized, noting that no Chief Minister can emerge without the backing of the longstanding party.

“The Congress is adhering to the principles of coalition politics. We have nominated a candidate from the backward community in Lalganj. Why has the RJD chosen to nominate a bahubali (strongman) from this seat? What justification is there for this?” he questioned.

The Lalganj seat in Vaishali district gained attention as both Congress and RJD candidates submitted their nominations for the same constituency. The Congress has put forth Aditya Kumar as its candidate, while its alliance partner has chosen Shivani Shukla, the daughter of strongman Munna Shukla, as its nominee from that seat.

Point of View

Pappu Yadav’s statements reflect the ongoing tensions within the Mahagathbandhan. His call for unity and respect for coalition principles is crucial for the alliance's survival. The political environment in Bihar is volatile, and the parties must navigate these challenges carefully to ensure electoral success.
