Pathankot Residents Celebrate Economic Boost as PM Unveils Jammu Railway Division

Pathankot, Jan 6 (NationPress) As Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually launched the new Jammu Railway Division, locals in Pathankot shared their enthusiasm, labeling the initiative a transformative development for the area's economy and transport links.

In a conversation with IANS, a resident remarked, “This will undoubtedly assist everyone in Pathankot. It will enhance commercial activities and offer a direct connection to the Jammu rail division, which will significantly expand opportunities for all.”

Another local commented, “This progress will be advantageous for nearly everyone. It will facilitate business operations, enable Army personnel to travel more efficiently, and increase income. Tourists will also find it much simpler to visit, which was previously a challenge.”

The inauguration was praised by PM Modi as a “historic milestone” that will significantly aid in integrating Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) into the national railway system, while promoting infrastructural growth throughout the region.

During his address, PM Modi highlighted, “The inauguration of the Jammu railway division marks a landmark achievement in both linking J&K with the national railway framework and improving the region’s infrastructure.”

The Prime Minister also recognized the accomplishments of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL), referring to it as an engineering marvel.

He commended the Anji Khad Bridge, which is India’s first cable-stayed rail bridge, and the iconic arch bridge over the Chenab River, known as the world’s highest railway bridge. These accomplishments symbolize the excellence and efficiency of Indian Railways.

PM Modi stressed that the new division would not only benefit Jammu and Kashmir but also neighboring areas like Punjab, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh.

“For a truly developed Bharat, railway development is crucial. The modernization and expansion of Indian Railways over the last decade have been transformational, with enhancements in facilities, connectivity, and infrastructure,” he stated.

Focusing on the progress of Indian Railways, PM Modi noted that 30,000 km of railway tracks had been added in the past ten years, achieving nearly 100 percent electrification, a significant rise from merely 35 percent in 2014. This development has opened new avenues for trade, business, education, and employment.

“The modernization of Indian Railways has generated millions of job opportunities. Initiatives such as Gati Shakti University will further enhance employability,” PM Modi concluded.
