Mumbai, Nov 4 (NationPress) The zonal selection committees of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have unveiled the squads for the Senior Women's Inter Zonal T20 Trophy on Tuesday, with India's World Cup-winning star Shafali Verma appointed as the captain of the North Zone team.

Six teams will compete in this tournament: the Central Zone, East Zone, West Zone, North Zone, North East Zone, and South Zone. The matches are set to occur in Nagaland from November 4 to 14.

Notably, Verma is the sole representative from India's victorious World Cup squad participating in this tournament. At just 21 years old, she played two matches in the global event after being brought in as an injury replacement for Pratika Rawal before the semi-final against Australia.

She made a significant impact in the final against South Africa, earning the Player of the Match title for her exceptional all-round performance, scoring 87 runs in the first innings and taking two vital wickets in the second.

Another key player to watch is Niki Prasad, Verma's teammate from the Delhi Capitals and the captain of the U19 World Cup-winning team in 2025, who will be leading the South Zone.
