Bhubaneswar, Feb 13 (NationPress) Odisha's Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday charged the BJP government with appropriating the accolades for the accomplishments of the preceding BJD government.
In a statement to the media regarding Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati’s address in the Odisha assembly, Patnaik remarked: “In the Governor’s speech today, this BJP government is attempting to claim credit for numerous achievements of my government. The government should focus on various areas where it is falling short, such as the law & order situation, escalating prices, and unemployment.
Meanwhile, BJD Leader Goutam Buddha Das asserted that Governor Kambhampati is unfamiliar with Odisha and lacks awareness of the state's ground realities.
Das further accused that the Governor merely reiterated the information provided by the state government.
On the other hand, Industry Minister Sampad Chandra Swain suggested Patnaik reconsider his comments.
“We have introduced new initiatives for women like the Subhadra Yojana, raised the MSP for Farmers to Rs 3100, and we are dedicated to fulfilling our election promises. Under our governance, the law and order situation is more stable than during their (BJD government) tenure. During the Utkarsh Odisha-Make In Odisha Conclave-2025, we attracted Rs 16.78 lakh crore in investment intent and signed MoUs worth 13 lakh crores. This will create substantial job opportunities in the state. It is well-known how many MoUs were signed and the extent of grounded investments during the prior Chief Minister’s administration,” stated Swain.
The budget session of the Odisha Assembly began on Thursday with the inaugural address from Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati.
In his address, the Governor emphasized various achievements of the state government over the past eight months.
He asserted that the state government led by Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has made several pivotal decisions aimed at empowering the poor, youth, farmers, and women of the state.
The third session of the 17th Odisha Legislative Assembly is set to run until April 5 in two phases, featuring 28 working days. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who also serves as the Finance Minister, will present the budget on February 17.
