Bhopal, Jan 21 (NationPress) The Madhya Pradesh Minister of State for Health, Narendra Shivaji Patel, took a dig at the state Congress president Jitu Patwari regarding his remark that "groupism is a cancer". Patel stated that even though Patwari has recognized this flaw, it is now too late to address it.

Patel's comments followed Patwari's statement to Congress workers about the upcoming program in Mhow on January 27, where he proclaimed, "factionalism is like cancer in the party and must be eradicated; otherwise, it will lead to our demise.

According to Minister Patel, the issue of factionalism in Congress is so entrenched in Madhya Pradesh that the party will struggle to overcome it.

In a conversation with IANS, Patel remarked that factionalism has been a long-standing issue within Congress but has intensified since Patwari took the helm as state unit chief.

Patel noted that prominent leaders such as Digvijaya Singh and Kamal Nath have been marginalized, and the public has turned against Congress. Therefore, he acknowledged that Patwari's statement holds truth.

It’s worth mentioning that Patwari's comments gained traction after a video surfaced on social media, in which he expressed, "We must eliminate this cancer of factionalism or face self-destruction. If we fail to address this issue, we will be the architects of our own downfall."

Following backlash from both the BJP and Congress, Patwari denied claims of division within the party in Madhya Pradesh.

He asserted, "The statement was orchestrated by the BJP's publicity cell to disseminate misinformation, but I will confront this challenge."

Nonetheless, Patwari stated on Monday to reporters, "I will do whatever is necessary to eradicate factionalism in our party, and we will tackle this with determination and unity. We will persist in our efforts and challenge the BJP's foundations."

Many within the party acknowledge that Congress in Madhya Pradesh has greatly suffered due to factionalism and infighting among regional leaders, yet they agree that Patwari should not have made such admissions during a party meeting.
