Chennai, June 24 (NationPress) Tamil Nadu BJP spokesperson A.N.S. Prasad has fiercely criticized DMK Minister and Kolathur DMK District Secretary Sekar Babu for his comments regarding Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and actor-politician Pawan Kalyan.
Recently, Sekar Babu challenged whether Pawan Kalyan could secure a win if he were to run from a Chennai constituency. In a rebuttal, A.N.S. Prasad asserted that Pawan Kalyan’s campaign in Kolathur would be pivotal in dismantling the DMK’s stronghold in the area, urging Sekar Babu to concentrate on ensuring Chief Minister M.K. Stalin's victory in the upcoming 2026 Assembly elections.
Prasad reminded everyone that during the 2011 Assembly elections, M.K. Stalin triumphed in Kolathur by a slender margin of only 2,734 votes, garnering 68,677 votes (48.35 percent) against AIADMK’s Saidai Duraisamy, who received 65,943 votes (46.43 percent).
He accused Sekar Babu of overlooking this narrow victory and questioned the authenticity of the election results. He claimed that Sekar Babu was issuing empty challenges while the DMK grapples with waning public support.
Prasad confidently stated that Kolathur will emerge as the first constituency where the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will defeat the DMK in 2026, irrespective of Pawan Kalyan's candidacy.
He asserted that even an average BJP member could overcome the Chief Minister in Kolathur this time, citing the BJP’s recent electoral successes as evidence.
Under the leadership of BJP state president Nainar Nagendran and guided by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the NDA is gearing up for a serious battle in 2026, with Kolathur earmarked as a crucial target for the BJP’s electoral advancement.
Prasad also criticized the DMK’s remarks about the recently held Murugan Bhakthargal Manadu in Madurai, where Pawan Kalyan delivered an impactful address.
He noted that rather than addressing the concerns raised by Pawan Kalyan, the DMK is attempting to distract the public by mocking him and targeting the BJP, indicating a sense of panic and fear within the DMK and its allies.
Although Telugu by birth, Pawan Kalyan grew up in Chennai and speaks Tamil fluently. His spiritual message at the Madurai event resonated with thousands of Murugan devotees.
The BJP spokesperson condemned the DMK for what he termed ongoing anti-Hindu policies, including alleged mishandling of temple funds, divisive caste and language politics, and consistent disrespect towards Hindu sentiments.
He accused the DMK government of misappropriating temple donations through the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department, claiming that the Madurai conference served as a spiritual rebuttal to such actions.
According to him, thousands of devotees came together at the Murugan gathering to chant Kanda Sashti Kavasam and pray for the end of the DMK’s “malevolent governance.”
