Srinagar, Nov 2 (NationPress) The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, stated on Sunday that physical fitness initiatives such as the ‘Kashmir Marathon’ demonstrate that a society can harness its physical and mental fitness along with emotional stability to overcome challenges and effectively channel its strength.
While addressing the award ceremony for the second edition of the Kashmir marathon, which concluded successfully today, the L-G noted that all prizes were claimed by Kenyan athletes.
He remarked, “International events like this allow us to highlight our handicrafts and handlooms, in addition to boosting tourism.
“Jammu and Kashmir stands as a beacon of communal harmony and peace. I express my gratitude to PM Modi for the significant transformation of this region into a blend of modernity and spirituality, which is advancing forward with passion and determination.
“I am confident you will appreciate the progress and transformation and enjoy our hospitality. I urge the people of Jammu and Kashmir to seize this global opportunity to present our unique traditions and culture. Let’s showcase our arts and crafts,” he added.
The L-G highlighted that participants from 11 foreign nations took part in the marathon.
“I take pride in stating that in just two years, the Kashmir marathon has evolved into an international event. To our international friends, let me emphasize that Jammu Kashmir is the crown jewel of India with a rich heritage and culture,” the L-G stated.
He expressed hope that the ‘Jammu Marathon’ would also commence soon, as these international events can offer economic support and widen our tourism outreach.
“I am positive that in the future, this marathon will become the most stunning marathon destination globally. Once again, I thank all the winners, runners, and participants of the Kashmir marathon 2025,” the L-G concluded.
He extended his gratitude to the Tourism Department for the smooth organization of this event.
