Jaipur, Nov 12 (NationPress) Renowned Congress figure Sachin Pilot on Wednesday emphasized the necessity of absolute transparency in the ongoing voter list verification process, appealing to the Election Commission of India (ECI) to guarantee fairness and impartiality.
Speaking to reporters in Jaipur, Pilot voiced his worries regarding what he termed the “outright abuse of constitutional institutions” by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
“We all desire a voter list that is accurate, with no improper additions or omissions,” Pilot remarked. “However, amidst the current national atmosphere, one must question why the Congress Party, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, and all leaders of the INDIA Bloc are being accused of resisting this initiative. Our apprehensions stem from the urgency and motives behind similar actions executed in Bihar.
Stressing the importance of institutional neutrality, Pilot asserted, “We do not wish for the Election Commission to operate in a way that benefits any political party. Regrettably, what we are observing is the blatant misuse of constitutional institutions by the BJP.
“By using the Election Commission as a facade, they are declaring living individuals deceased, adding names of the dead, and in certain instances, fabricating up to 250 votes for a single residence. We staunchly oppose this collusion.”
Pilot indicated that the Congress Party has directed its members, leaders, and MLAs to engage with their respective constituencies to avert any irregularities. “We will operate on the ground following established guidelines to ensure every legitimate vote is counted,” he stated.
Referring to LoP Rahul Gandhi’s recent comments, Pilot noted that despite providing proof of voter fraud in Haryana, Karnataka, and Maharashtra, the Election Commission has yet to commence any investigation.
“Rather than investigating the issue, the Commission is requesting Rahul ji to submit an affidavit. This is profoundly unfortunate. The Election Commission is a constitutional body—it must remain independent, free from ideological bias, and conduct a fair inquiry,” he added.
Revealing the party’s forthcoming strategies, Pilot stated that the Congress will host a significant event in Delhi at the end of this month as part of a nationwide campaign against vote manipulation.
“We have initiated a signature campaign urging those involved in voter fraud to resign. This movement will extend across the nation and culminate in Delhi,” he concluded.
