Jaipur, Sep 2 (NationPress) Congress General Secretary and former Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot has once again directed his criticism at the Union government and the Election Commission of India regarding alleged discrepancies in the electoral process, asserting that vote theft will not be accepted at any cost.
While in his hometown Mohangarh in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer district, paying respects to Colonel Sona Ram Chaudhary, he informed the media that the Congress party is meticulously examining every constituency in Rajasthan.
“Rahul Gandhi has previously indicated in his address that he will unveil significant revelations on this matter — soon the reality will be presented to the public,” stated the Congress leader.
Pilot referenced the Jaipur Rural seat, where BJP's Rao Rajendra Singh narrowly defeated Congress candidate Anil Chopra by a mere 1,615 votes during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Rao Rajendra Singh of the BJP garnered 617,877 votes, while Congress' Anil Chopra received 616,262 votes.
The former Deputy Chief Minister remarked that allegations of irregularities had emerged back then and now, as more issues arise, it is the Election Commission's moral duty to address public skepticism and initiate an inquiry.
He further illustrated his point: “This situation resembles visiting a police station to file a complaint, only to have the officer demand an affidavit before accepting the case. This is akin to the current functioning of the Election Commission.”
Pilot accused the Commission of aligning with the ruling party instead of addressing public concerns.
He emphasized that this issue transcends mere victory or loss; it is fundamentally about protecting democracy.
“In the past, officials ventured into deserts, forests, and mountains to ensure every vote was counted. Now, we witness manipulation of votes. This warrants thorough investigation,” he stressed.
Pilot affirmed that under the leadership of Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, the Congress will persist in highlighting the issue of 'vote theft' nationwide, as the public clearly supports the demand for electoral accountability.
