Sachin Pilot Calls for Accountability Among Party Workers Following Defeat

Jaipur, Dec 4 (NationPress) Former Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot on Wednesday called upon party members to accept collective responsibility for the Congress's disappointing results in the recent Rajasthan bypolls.
The Congress has been reduced to a mere one seat in the recently held bypolls, losing essential constituencies such as Jhunjhunu, Deoli Uniara, and Ramgarh.
“Our performance in Rajasthan was unsatisfactory. When the party succeeds, everyone shares the accolades, but in times of loss, accountability must be collective. We achieved victory in Dausa despite the government's attempts to sway the results. However, the areas where we faltered are under investigation, and committees have been established. We will implement necessary actions at the appropriate time,” Sachin Pilot stated to reporters.
The former Deputy Chief Minister also commented on the Ajmer controversy, emphasizing the importance of the Places of Worship Act of 1991, which maintains the status quo of religious sites since Independence.
Denouncing efforts to create unnecessary discord, he remarked that events in lower courts, such as those in Sambhal and Ajmer, are fostering unrest.
“Certain entities are intentionally shifting public focus from critical issues like unemployment, inflation, and farmers’ challenges. Innocent lives were lost in Sambhal. Who will bear responsibility for this? We must stand against forces that aim to divide our society,” he asserted.
The former Deputy Chief Minister further accused the BJP of engaging in divisive politics, stating that the BJP thrives on polarization.
“If we initiate campaigns to uncover religious sites or properties nationwide, there will be no end to it. Their aim is to distract the public with communal matters,” he added.
In response to BJP state in-charge Radha Mohan Agarwal’s criticisms, Pilot remarked, “I have never met him, but when I do, I’ll inquire why he has such an affinity for me.”
Agarwal had accused the former Deputy Chief Minister of causing divisions in Dausa and Tonk, claiming that the Congress has a history of fostering discord.
Dismissively responding to the comments, Pilot stated, “In politics, criticism should remain respectful. Underestimating opponents or employing harsh language serves no purpose.”
He also described the by-election outcomes in Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Haryana as “shocking”, reiterating, “We will take the right action at the right time.”
