New Delhi, June 17 (NationPress) Union Commerce & Industry Minister Piyush Goyal led a significant review meeting this past weekend in Guntur to evaluate the progress made by the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC) regarding its industrial nodes in Andhra Pradesh, as noted in an official announcement on Tuesday.
The meeting concentrated on the advancement of three pivotal nodes within the state: the Krishnapatnam Industrial Area under the Chennai–Bengaluru Industrial Corridor, the Orvakal Industrial Area within the Hyderabad–Bengaluru Industrial Corridor, and the Kopparthy Industrial Area linked to the Visakhapatnam–Chennai Industrial Corridor, according to the statement.
Goyal urged officials to concentrate on luring anchor investors and startups by creating ecosystems that foster innovation within each industrial node. He emphasized the importance of establishing dedicated incubators to support early-stage ventures and promote a thriving startup environment.
Officials were also directed to designate areas within each node specifically for MSMEs and startups, providing them with subsidized rates and equipping them with cutting-edge infrastructure and technological assistance.
Stressing the significance of global collaborations, Goyal proposed hosting country-specific investment conclaves aimed at attracting targeted foreign investments. He also advocated for the creation of a centralized dashboard to facilitate real-time monitoring of project advancements and urged the adoption of sophisticated testing and quality control methods to guarantee world-class infrastructure.
Reinforcing the Centre’s dedication to transforming Andhra Pradesh into a model of industrial excellence and innovation, the minister stated that the state is on track to become “Swarnandhra Pradesh”—a symbol of inclusive and sustainable industrial development.
The review session commenced with comprehensive presentations regarding all three NICDC nodes by the APIIC Vice Chairman & Managing Director, followed by a summary of Andhra Pradesh’s industrial roadmap under the ambitious “Swarna Andhra 2047” initiative presented by the state Industries Secretary.
NICDC CEO & MD Rajat Kumar Saini highlighted the necessity of expediting land acquisition, ensuring timely completion of external infrastructure by the state government, and maintaining quality standards throughout project execution.
The Krishnapatnam Node spans 2,006 acres with an investment potential of around Rs 10,500 crore, promising to create 1 lakh jobs.
The Orvakal Node, covering 2,621 acres, is expected to draw an investment of Rs 12,000 crore and generate employment for about 45,000 individuals, while the Kopparthy Node, situated on 2,596 acres, aims to attract Rs 8,800 crore, providing approximately 54,000 jobs.
The NICDC, an initiative of the Centre under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, is committed to developing next-generation industrial smart cities that aim to enhance manufacturing, attract investments, generate jobs, and elevate India’s global economic standing.
It ensures seamless multimodal connectivity, plug-and-play infrastructure, and sustainable urbanization through its flagship corridors: the Delhi–Mumbai Industrial Corridor, the Amritsar–Kolkata Industrial Corridor, the Chennai–Bengaluru Industrial Corridor, the East Coast Economic Corridor, and the Bengaluru–Mumbai Industrial Corridor.
