Chennai, April 14 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, shared heartfelt wishes with the people of Tamil Nadu on the festive occasion of Tamil New Year, which signifies the onset of the month of Chithirai in the state.

In a message posted on the social media platform X, Prime Minister Modi expressed his greetings, stating, “May this New Year bring prosperity, good health, and happiness. May everyone be blessed with good health.”

Congress MP and LoP Rahul Gandhi also shared his greetings on ‘X’. He wrote, “May this New Year bring you harmony, prosperity, good health, and happiness.”

The Tamil New Year festivities were celebrated throughout the state on Monday, characterized by traditional enthusiasm and joy. Devotees flocked to temples across Tamil Nadu, including renowned shrines in Madurai and Tiruchirappalli, to pray for a prosperous year ahead.

Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi also shared his warm wishes, stating, “On this auspicious occasion of Tamil New Year, I extend my heartfelt greetings and best wishes to everyone, especially my Tamil brothers and sisters worldwide. This day is a tribute to our proud, ancient, and rich Tamil culture and heritage, vibrant present, and promising future.”

He further added, “May the New Year bring prosperity, good health, renewed energy, and abundant opportunities to all. May it enhance our collective commitment to develop Tamil Nadu for a Viksit Bharat 2047 in the Amrit Kaal.”

Political figures from all parties participated in the celebrations.

AIADMK General Secretary and former Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami remarked, “Let us all accomplish new goals, overcome challenges, and ensure Tamil Nadu thrives in this New Year.”
