New Delhi, March 22 (NationPress) NDA leaders celebrated the achievement of PM Narendra Modi on Sunday, as he became the longest-serving leader of an elected government in India, reaching 8,931 days in office during his tenures as both the Chief Minister of Gujarat and the Prime Minister of India.
With this remarkable achievement, the Prime Minister has surpassed Pawan Kumar Chamling, who was the Chief Minister of Sikkim for 8,930 days, marking a pivotal moment in India’s political landscape.
In response to this news, JD(U) National Spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan remarked that this accomplishment was a source of national pride and showcased the Prime Minister’s extensive political journey.
“Today is a proud moment for the whole nation. This milestone is yet another addition to the list of achievements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. As the Chief Minister of Gujarat, he transformed the state into a ‘Vibrant Gujarat’. After taking office as Prime Minister in 2014, he has faced numerous challenges over nearly eleven and a half years,” he stated.
BJP MP Gulam Ali Khatana also commended the Prime Minister’s leadership, noting that India’s international standing has risen significantly during his tenure.
“India is emerging as a global power, and the Prime Minister embodies a clear vision and mission. Nowadays, Indian citizens are greeted with respect at airports worldwide, reflecting India's growing diplomatic strength,” he mentioned.
BJP National Spokesperson Syed Shahnawaz Hussain emphasized that it is a privilege for the nation to have Narendra Modi hold the record for the longest time in public office.
“It is indeed a privilege that our leader, Narendra Modi, now has the record for the longest time spent in public office in the country. He has continuously served as Chief Minister and Prime Minister for over 8,931 days. This record will be significant, as he will continue to hold the title of both the longest-serving Prime Minister and the longest-serving public office holder in India,” he asserted.
Modi began his tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat on October 7, 2001, and served until May 21, 2014. He was sworn in as the 14th Prime Minister of India on May 26, 2014.
Since then, he has secured victory in three consecutive Lok Sabha elections in 2014, 2019, and 2024, becoming the first non-Congress Prime Minister to serve two full terms and return for a third consecutive term.
