New Delhi, Oct 20 (NationPress) Since taking office in 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made it a tradition to celebrate Diwali with India’s armed forces, including visits to challenging locations such as Siachen and the high seas. This year, addressing the sea warriors aboard INS Vikrant, he reinforced his government's approach towards defence indigenisation, infrastructure enhancement, and national pride with a compelling narrative.

PM Modi has consistently encouraged citizens to be “vocal for local” to achieve Atmanirbhar Bharat or self-reliance. He remarked, “The day India welcomed the indigenous INS Vikrant, our Navy cast aside a significant emblem of colonial rule. Inspired by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, our Navy embraced a new flag.”

In his speech, he acknowledged the strides made in the pursuit of Swadeshi, stating that he prioritizes the nation while paying emotional tribute to the personnel and highlighting recent accomplishments.

“While coming here, I wished to experience this moment, but your hard work, selfless dedication, and commitment are truly remarkable,” he expressed.

This ability to merge various policies and achievements with emotional resonance is indicative of a leader who values clarity and aims to communicate effectively.

The address emphasized tangible results and a focus on swift implementation, suggesting a preference for outcome-based governance, often facilitated through centralized coordination.

Set against a backdrop of maritime symbolism and local pride, the address aimed to translate narrative energy into political and policy momentum.

“The deep night of the ocean and the dawn this morning made my Diwali profoundly special. From the decks of INS Vikrant, I extend Diwali greetings to all citizens, especially heartfelt wishes to your families,” PM Modi reflected.

At times, a poetic side of PM Modi emerged as he connected with nature.

“Today, on one side, I see infinite horizons and skies, while on the other, I have the mighty INS Vikrant, embodying boundless strength. The sun's glow on the ocean's surface resembles the Diwali lights illuminated by our brave soldiers,” he mused.

For the Prime Minister, it is not merely about visiting sailors and addressing them; it is about understanding and sharing in their experiences.

He had spent the night aboard the ship after an evening filled with music and camaraderie with the sea guardians.

Marking an occasion aboard a ship that has safeguarded the high seas during India's response to Pakistan-sponsored violence in Pahalgam through 'Operation Sindoor', he commended the courageous efforts.

“The exceptional collaboration among the three services led to Pakistan's surrender during Operation Sindoor,” he noted.

“The night spent on INS Vikrant is beyond words. I witnessed the tremendous energy and enthusiasm among you all. Seeing you sing patriotic songs and recount the tales of Operation Sindoor through music is an experience that no words can capture,” PM Modi praised.

Even when not directly engaged in operations like Operation Sindoor, the Indian Navy plays a vital role in maritime security.

PM Modi highlighted this aspect as well.

“The Indian Navy is crucial for global stability. Fifty percent of the world's container ships traverse the Indian Ocean, and our Navy ensures the safety of this route,” he emphasized. In his remarks, PM Modi employed historical references and cultural metaphors to link past valor with current policy decisions, showcasing a personal touch.
