New Delhi, March 22 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his heartfelt wishes to the citizens on Sunday, marking the fourth day of Chaitra Navratri, a celebration dedicated to Goddess Kushmanda.
In a message shared on X, PM Modi stated, "I offer my respects to Maa Kushmanda -- a symbol of unyielding strength and spiritual might! May her celestial energy inspire a new awareness within every soul."
He further added, "The devotion towards the Mother is immensely powerful. The hearts of her followers are filled with positive vibes through the reverence for Devi Ma." This was accompanied by a post featuring the devotional song Durgati Naashini Maa by Dipti Rekha.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also expressed his wishes on X, stating, "May the blessings of Maa Kushmanda -- the fourth form of Jagadamba, the Universal Mother, fill the lives of all her devotees with joy, prosperity, and health. We pray for peace and well-being to prevail throughout creation."
Goddess Kushmanda, whose name signifies "small (Ku) powerful (Ushma) egg (Anda)," is honored on the fourth day of Navratri.
She is depicted riding a lioness and is endowed with eight arms, holding a lotus, kamandal, a bow and arrow in her right hands, and amrit kalash, japa mala, gada, and chakra in her left.
In Hindu beliefs, Goddess Kushmanda is revered as the supreme deity of the solar system. It is said that praying to Mata Kushmanda gives strength to her followers to conquer ailments, sorrow, and imperfections.
A large number of devotees flocked to temples nationwide, with attendees queuing outside places of worship from early morning.
Navratri, which translates to 'nine nights' in Sanskrit, is a Hindu festival that honors Goddess Durga and her nine incarnations, collectively termed Navdurga. The festival is observed with profound devotion across India, featuring rituals and prayers in reverence of the Goddess in her many forms.
