On this significant day of Navratri, worshippers honor Goddess Durga in the form of Mata Chandraghanta, who is depicted with ten arms, each wielding a weapon, a lotus flower, or forming a gesture of blessing (Abhaya Mudra). She is revered for her serene yet powerful demeanor and is believed to grant peace, courage, and success to her devotees. The Goddess features a half-moon on her forehead, which is the origin of her name Chandraghanta, symbolizing her role in dispelling obstacles and providing inner strength.
Numerous devotees flocked to temples across the country, queuing up early in the morning to pay their respects.
Navratri, translating to 'nine nights' in Sanskrit, is a prominent Hindu festival celebrating Goddess Durga and her nine avatars, collectively referred to as Navdurga. This festival is observed with immense devotion throughout India, featuring rituals and prayers that honor the Goddess in her many forms.
