New Delhi, June 1 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his warm birthday wishes to Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya on Sunday.
PM Modi highlighted that Mandaviya has been tirelessly striving to transform India into a sporting powerhouse and to empower the nation's youth.
He commended the minister for his dedication to the welfare of party workers.
“Wishing a very happy birthday to Shri Mansukh Mandaviya Ji. His fervent efforts in making India a sporting powerhouse and uplifting our youth are truly inspiring. His commendable work for our party workers, who are pivotal in building a self-reliant India, deserves recognition. I wish him a long and healthy life,” PM Modi remarked in his post on X.
On his birthday, Mandaviya spearheaded the 25th edition of the nationwide initiative ‘Fit India Sundays on Cycle’ in Delhi, honoring the brave soldiers who participated in Operation Sindoor. “This edition serves as a tribute to our valiant heroes from Operation Sindoor. It’s encouraging to witness citizens nationwide participating in cycling for fitness and in honor of our nation's defenders,” he stated.
The minister led 'The Fit Sunday' movement, which has gained momentum and national pride across more than 5,000 locations. “Over the past 24 Sundays, we have consistently promoted cycling as part of the Fit India Movement. While not every ride focuses on endurance, the Sunday on Cycle initiative has evolved into a national phenomenon...,” he added.
Mandaviya also received birthday wishes from his cabinet counterpart, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
“Wishing my colleague in the Union Cabinet, Shri @mansukhmandviya ji, a very happy birthday. I pray for your good health, longevity, and happiness,” Gadkari posted on his X handle.
Born in 1972 in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, Mandaviya made history in 2002 as the youngest MLA in Gujarat at the age of 28.
He first took on the role of a Union Minister in 2016, serving as Minister of State in various ministries, including Road Transport and Highways, Shipping, and Chemicals and Fertilisers.
In 2019, he joined Modi's cabinet as MoS (independent charge) for Shipping and Chemicals and Fertilisers.
Mandaviya was promoted to cabinet rank in July 2021, becoming the Minister of Health and Family Welfare during a cabinet reshuffle by PM Modi.
He was again inducted into the Modi 3.0 cabinet in 2024, assuming the roles of Union Minister of Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports.
