Srinagar, July 6 (NationPress) J&K L-G Manoj Sinha stated on Sunday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has realized the aspirations of Syama Prasad Mookerjee 66 years after his sacrifice, asserting that Mookerjee envisioned the active involvement of the people of J&K in the journey of development and nation-building.
“Today, India is experiencing remarkable growth in its development journey, striving to fulfill Mookerjee’s other aspirations of creating a strong, united, and prosperous India,” he remarked during the 125th birth anniversary celebration of Syama Prasad Mookerjee at Tagore Hall in Srinagar.
Offering heartfelt tributes to Mookerjee, the L-G highlighted his significant contributions as a pivotal architect of modern India.
“Mookerjee was an insightful statesman, educator, and courageous parliamentarian whose principles continue to influence India's trajectory. His deep understanding and unwavering dedication to social unity and harmony will always be cherished,” he noted.
Furthermore, he revealed that J&K has initiated a two-year celebratory campaign to commemorate the life and legacy of Syama Prasad Mookerjee, emphasizing his role in fortifying national unity and promoting 'One Nation, One Constitution' for a brighter J&K.
“Syama Prasad Mookerjee gave his life for the unification of J&K with India. He championed the concept of 'One Nation, One Constitution' and contested Article 370. His martyrdom in Srinagar, while advocating for J&K's complete integration, was a pivotal moment in our nation's history,” he remarked.
The L-G emphasized that PM Modi has actualized Mookerjee’s vision 66 years after his martyrdom, adding, “The progress of J&K since August 2019 is driven by the aspirations of Syama Prasad Mookerjee and the commitment of PM Modi. Mookerjee envisioned a discrimination-free J&K and aimed to transform its destiny through complete integration with India.”
According to him, Mookerjee envisioned the active engagement of the people of J&K in the mainstream of development and nation-building.
“Inspired by Mookerjee and with PM Modi’s dedication, J&K is achieving remarkable development milestones. Mookerjee was a key architect of India’s industrialization, laying the groundwork for a self-sustaining India,” he asserted.
He mentioned that Mookerjee passed away in Srinagar, and the entire J&K owes him a debt of gratitude.
“The younger generation should actively participate in honoring his legacy. Week-long exhibitions in educational institutions and theatrical performances portraying his life's journey should be organized,” he added.
